Welsh Stars
Welsh Stars was established in 1998 by Sheila Willicombe directly from working at BBC Wales for many years.
Roy Noble, who was the most popular broadcaster in Wales at that time, was the first presenter to come on board. Shortly after he was followed by all the other major broadcasters in Wales – Jamie Owen and Sara Edwards (BBC news anchors); Derek Brockway and Behnaz Akhgar (BBC weather presenters); Jason Mohammad, Wynne Evans, Sian Lloyd, Sarah Dickins, Claire Summers, Owain Wyn Evans, Jonathan Hill, Iolo Williams, Sean Fletcher and many more. Over the next few years, we carefully selected business speakers of the highest calibre and were delighted when Carwyn Jones (former First Minister of Wales) joined our elite band as did Shane Williams, Ryan Jones; Dr Paul Thomas; Andy McCaan.
We provide hosts and conference chairs; speakers – after dinner; leadership; motivational; inspirational environment; climate change; team building; sustainability; resilience; sport psychology etc. Many of our clients can undertake advertising and promotional work as well as voice-overs in both English and Welsh as many of our clients are bilingual.
As the business grew so did enquiries from outside Wales and Speakers Unlimited was established. We then started working with BBC Points West news anchors, Alex Lovell and David Garmston; and presenters Matthew Hill, Bob Constantine, Nicola Beckford etc. We work regularly with Baroness Tanni-Grey Thompson and Colin Jackson. We also work with Rob Brydon; Katherine Jenkins; Sandi Toksvig; Sue Perkins; Jenny Éclair; Iwan Thomas; Justin Urquhart Stewart; Professor Robert Winston; Michael Portillo and many more.
