  • Name : Miranda Bishop
  • Bio :

An expert in Social Media, Miranda Bishop works in both business-to-consumer and business-to-buiness markets and platforms, with everything from one-man-bands to global PLC's. Miranda can help you truly get the most out of social media in an accessible human way.

At 28, Miranda is young in the speaker circuit providing exuberance in a modern and exciting industry.  Miranda started speaking professionally after intense training in LA for a global travel brand, reaching out to thousands of students across the continents promoting exceptional volunteering experiences.

When she started her own business, Miranda discovered the local speaking event Ignite Cardiff.  A community-led movement (which is a cross-between Petcha Kucha and TED talks). Miranda quickly joined the team and effectively sold out every event since through high level social media marketing campaigns. Culminating in their final event at the Wales Millennium Centre, the evening was the largest Ignite Cardiff event in the world, attracting 1500 attendees.

Miranda now regularly speaks at conferences, panels, design events, launch parties and a host of networking events and seminars. Her talks are laced with ruthless pragmatism and practical advice: keeping well clear of the usual ‘social media ninja/guru’ fodder using real examples, case studies and results. Miranda enjoys a great Q&A and hosts debate with delight.

Appearing in the Western Mail’s ’16 Business Women to Watch in 2016’ as well as Business Insider’s ‘Rising Stars’, Miranda also appears on television and radio for BBC Wales as a "Digital Expert"; most recently in the documentary ‘Finding Love Online’.

Miranda has been known to disrupt the occasional all-male panel after Oi15 when Andrew Grill of IBM invited her up on stage to address the gender balance. Often a big problem in the conference industry, she now speaks frequently on "Women in Technology, Digital and Social Media" having recently completely a Post Graduate Certificate in Mentoring For Entrepreneurial Practice from a gendered perspective.

Other projects include co-founding "Re:Program", a supportive series of events for women in Tech and Digital as well as joining the board of "Full Circle Education", a social enterprise focused on well-rounded education for girls and young people in modern life.

Many industries are still seriously struggling with where to start on "Social Media". Miranda helps new businesses to get to grips with digital and shows the more traditional industries the way forward as they could be in danger of being left behind by digital disruption.

Miranda also talks on saving time on social media. This talk is focused on honing a social presence and getting it to work for you, instead of you for it. Miranda will work through useful examples and practical application as well as the struggles of managing a large team of contributors.

Social Media for Students

Miranda also speaks on ‘Social Media for Students’ and how it can help with the jobs market. Miranda left university with an English Literature degree and absolutely zero idea what to do with it. However, leaving university or college in a digital revolution offers unique job opportunities that no one else has ever experienced. Learn why the job market in "Social Media" is exploding and how to harness it. Ideal for University Subject Groups or Unions.

Miranda also speaks on the lack of women in STEM industries, in self-employment and at the C-Suite level. In this presentation Miranda discusses different ideas around gender in a digital space and in the industry itself.

Ideal for any conference struggling to find female speakers who are available for their events. Guaranteed to shake things up!
