Dai was responsible for the successful amalgamation of two former protection divisions and the Special Escort Group into one unified command. He initiated a wide range of initiatives including Intelligence gathering on Fixated Persons, training and selection of officers, fitness and the development of an all firearms unit to safeguard the Royal Family.
In his operational career Dai was responsible for command and planning for prevention of terrorism, public disorder, tackling violence, gang disorder, licensing, child protection and juvenile justice. . He was appointed as the Head Of Community in West London at a time of extreme racial tension and commended for his outstanding ability in defusing tension and developing community cohesion. An expert in the control and use of firearms, an authorised firearms marksman up to the rank of Superintendent and an advanced police driverHe commanded West London’s Territorial Support Unit Traffic Division Police Dog Section and Mounted Branch..He was elected as the Chairman Of London and the City Superintendents Association and represented the association on national policing issues at Chief Officer level.
On retirement as an expert in security and investigation, he has held senior consultancy appointments with Oracle plc, BMW AG, Kingfell plc, Selectamark and with a number of high-net-worth individuals and families. He has worked on international murders, kidnaps and missing persons investigations; and provides both strategic advice and operational support on intelligence, security, protection, threat and risk assessment. His international experience includes major cases, incidents and investigations in the UK, Europe, United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Barbados, South Africa, Russia, Siberia, Kuwait, Dubai, Australia, Japan, Macau and Hong Kong. He further developed his international experience with his involvement training and inspecting ships under the auspices of the International Ship and Port Security Regulations. He qualified as an Inspector, able to inspect and write security plans on a variety of ships ranging from Mega Yachts to Oil tankers and Cruise ships.
He is an acknowledged media expert on the Royal Family, security terrorism and policing related issues. Given the current interest in Royal news, Dai is a regular on BBC, ITV, Sky, and other international media platforms. He is also a regular conference and after-dinner speaker and has delivered over 200 lectures and talks internationally in recent years
Dai retains his passion for justice. He lectures on Ethical and Moral Leadership and maintains interest in the protection of vulnerable women and children. Frequently asked in the media to comment on legislation and cases highlighted in the media and court decisions. His passion for tackling abuse at all levels remains a priority and the years of tackling bullies has not diminished.
