Owain Wyn Evans

Young, bilingual television and weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans, has a wealth of live studio and outside broadcasting television experience. He became a familiar face to the Welsh youth audience overnight having secured a job presenting BBC Wales' children news programme Ffeil straight from school. As a result, he is one of the youngest journalists to be employed by the BBC Wales News Department. Owain has a passion for telling a good story coupled with an amicable, engaging on-screen presentation style be it in Welsh or English.

More recently, Owain has become familiar to English language audiences in Wales presenting the weather on BBC Wales Today and Radio Wales, in addition to the Welsh language service Radio Cymru.
As well a talented studio presenter, Owain is just as comfortable out and about in a live outside broadcast environment and can handle the often inevitable problems of live TV with confidence and in his stride.  In addition to his talent as a presenter, news reporter and forecaster.

With numerous television credits, Owain Wyn Evans has contributed to an array of programmes in Wales including S4C's Stwnsh, Planed Plant, Salon, Uned5, I'r Eithaf and Wedi 7. He has more recently been seen presenting news bulletins on BBC Wales Today, on BBC 1. In 2007 he was invited by the BBC to judge and co-present a television talent trawl for the Ffeil programme, in search for young reporters. His role in the project was pivotal, and it's initial success as a series of short TV items resulted in a 30 minute programme being commissioned for transmission by S4C.

The son of an aircraft historian, Owain spent years of his youth hearing how the weather affected Second World War aircraft- fuelling his later interest in meteorology and mechanics. Growing up, Owain spent his spare time riding motorbikes or drumming in numerous school bands. A talented drummer, he still enjoys getting behind the kit and has a keen interest in all things motoring.
