Alex Lovell is best known in the West Country as the host of BBC Points West, where she has been the main female presenter for 17 years.
Alex Lovell’s journey didn’t start with journalism - in fact she left Yorkshire aged 18 to attend a London drama school. After ‘treading the boards’ for a couple of years, an opportunity in television came along and she never looked back. Whilst a studio removed her from the physical presence of an audience, she loved the opportunity to reach through the camera. She says:
“When I am presenting I’m only ever talking to you! To one person and I love it”.
The jobs that came were varied from Playhouse Disney - an international format rolled out across world after success in the UK - to a daytime quiz show live on Channel 5 with little script and no time delay!
The offer of BBC news was a fresh challenge for Alex and one she feels privileged to have been given and loves deeply.
Alex Lovell is a highly professional and well experienced host and conference chair, having hosted many high profile events all over the UK to great acclaim.
