Sam Warburton

Sam isn’t your average rugby player. As Wales’ most capped captain and the British & Irish Lions most successful captain in their history, Sam is one of the most exciting players to have retired from the game in the last 10 years.

Sam has represented his country as a player and team captain at all levels; as captain of the under-18’s, under-19’s and under-20’s and the senior side. Sam has earned many accomplishments and broken a range of records during his career becoming the world’s youngest ever team captain when he led his team to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

In total, his glittering international career saw him pick up 74 caps, in 49 of which he was captain. He won two Six Nations titles and a Grand Slam, and he ended his career as an undefeated Lions Test captain, having led the team in Australia in 2013 and in New Zealand in 2017. Having announced his retirement in July 2018, Sam called time on a staggeringly successful career. A prolific openside and blindside flanker, Warburton ended his career as a legend of both the Wales rugby team and the Cardiff Blues.

Off the field, Sam's influence extends beyond the pitch. He's a contracted pundit with TNT, BBC (6 Nations), and ITV (Rugby World Cup 2019 & 2023), offering expert analysis and commentary. Additionally, he shares his insights as a columnist for the Times/Sunday Times.

‘‘Sam was amazing!!!  He is definitely the best we've had over the years. The instant feedback was great. Everyone has said what a lovely guy he is, he spoke so well, clearly and confidently but with no arrogance. His message was perfect and his engagement with guests before and after the ceremony was amazing too posing for photos. Cannot recommend him enough.’’
